Backlit & Lightbox Displays

Illuminated SEG fabric displays — a printed graphic stretched over an aluminum frame with LEDs inside, so the artwork glows rather than reflects.

When backlighting is worth the money

It isn't always. A backlit display costs meaningfully more than the same size unlit, so the question is whether your environment rewards it.

It pays off in dim or high-ceilinged halls, in crowded aisles where you're competing with neighbors on both sides, at evening receptions and after-hours events, and in retail or lobby installs where the display is working long after the overhead lights are dimmed.

It's less worth it in a bright hall with strong overhead lighting, or where the display sits against a window. In those conditions a well-printed unlit graphic reads nearly as well for a lot less.

What you should know before ordering

They need power. Obvious, but it catches people out — at a show that means ordering electrical service in advance, and advance-order rates are cheaper than on-site ones at nearly every hall.

Graphics are replaceable. The frame is the expensive part and it lasts for years. When your branding changes you order a new fabric skin, not a new display, which is what makes these cheaper than they look over a three or four year life.

Single or double-sided matters. Against a back wall, single-sided is the right buy. In an island or a lobby where people approach from both directions, double-sided doubles the working surface for far less than two displays.

What's here
