Sign Company in Macedonia, Ohio | Scoreboard Banners, Gym Graphics & Installation
In Macedonia, the deadline is a game, not a date.
Almost every graphics job in this city runs on an athletic calendar. A scoreboard banner has to be readable at the first home game under the lights. A gym wall has to be finished before the first assembly, and the floor has to be back in use the next morning. A fence wrap goes up the week the season starts and nobody is interested in the week after.
That is the one thing a shipping-only supplier structurally cannot answer. They can print a panel and put it on a truck. They cannot measure your scoreboard frame, tell you the opening is not the size of the banner you took down, and come back with a lift on a Thursday because Friday is the game.
DG Creativ is in Stow, fifteen minutes from Macedonia. We design, produce and install.
The proof: Nordonia High School
Replacing a faded backlit scoreboard banner at Nordonia High School. The old panel comes out, the frame gets checked, the new 13 oz banner goes in and gets tensioned evenly across the opening.
A scoreboard banner is the most-photographed piece of signage a district owns and usually the most neglected. It is in the background of every game photo, every highlight clip and every parent's phone for an entire season. When it has gone chalky and the edges have started to fray, that is what is in the background instead.
We have done the same work for Copley, and the full athletic build-out for the North Royalton School District — wall graphics, dimensional lettering and interior branding across a whole athletic facility.

Backlit is a different product, and it costs schools money
This is the detail that gets missed most often.
A standard banner is printed to be seen with light falling on it. A backlit scoreboard has light coming through it from behind. Print a standard banner, light it from behind, and you get a washed-out, patchy, unreadable panel — ink that looked solid in daylight goes transparent.
Backlit work is printed at higher ink density on material chosen to diffuse the light behind it evenly. It costs more per square foot than a standard banner, and it is the difference between a scoreboard that reads at night and one that does not.
If your scoreboard is lit from within, say so when you ask for a price. If you are not sure, tell us the make and we will work it out.
What goes up in Macedonia
- Backlit and standard scoreboard banners — measured to the frame, tensioned flat, installed from a lift. Banners
- Gym wall graphics, record boards and dimensional lettering — school colors and mascots on block, painted drywall or brick, cut on a CNC table from 3mm and 6mm PVC board, brushed aluminum composite or clear acrylic depending on where it sits and who touches it. Wall graphics and murals
- Mesh fence banners — perforated so wind passes through instead of turning the banner into a sail on an exposed fence run. Mesh banners
- Window and door graphics for school entrances and offices, including privacy film. Window graphics and film
- Gym and corridor floor graphics, in materials rated for the traffic and removable from a finished floor. Floor graphics
- Vehicle and fleet graphics for district and municipal vehicles. Vehicle wraps and fleet graphics
- Event and festival graphics for Macedonia community events. Events and festivals
Three things that decide whether a Macedonia job goes well
Measure the frame, not the old banner. The old banner has stretched. Every banner does. Ordering a replacement to the dimensions of the thing you are taking down is how you end up with a panel that will not tension flat. Measure the frame opening and the attachment point spacing, or have us come and do it.
Attachment is what fails first. Banners rarely fail in the middle. They fail at the edge, at a grommet, in February, in a wind nobody was expecting. Hemmed on all four sides, grommets at proper spacing rather than only at the corners, reinforced corners, and tensioners that give a little rather than rigid ties that concentrate every gust into one grommet hole.
Fresh paint and cold walls. For interior gym and corridor work, newly painted block needs roughly three to four weeks to cure before film will bond to it, and the surface wants to be between about 60 and 90°F when the graphic goes on. An unheated gym in January is a reason to reschedule, not a reason to push on.
Material weights, plainly
13 oz scrim vinyl is the standard for stadium and scoreboard work. A woven scrim through it stops a tear from running, it holds tension without distorting, and it takes Ohio weather for several seasons.
18 oz blockout is heavier and opaque through the middle so nothing shows through from behind — worth it for double-sided panels or anywhere the banner takes real abuse.
Mesh belongs on fence runs and exposed elevations. It is not the right choice for a backlit scoreboard: the holes that let the wind through also let the light through.
Common questions
Do you install, or do we?
We install. Scoreboard work usually needs a lift and it is not a job for maintenance staff on a ladder.
How long does a stadium banner last here?
Several seasons for 13 oz vinyl in Northeast Ohio weather. All-day direct sun and constant wind shorten it, and the failure point is almost always the attachment rather than the print. Taking a banner down over the winter roughly doubles its life — if you want to do that, ask for grommet spacing and hardware that make it easy to remove and rehang.
Can a sponsor pay for it?
Commonly, yes. Scoreboard panels are one of the most straightforward sponsorship assets a district has, and a business paying for the banner gets the most-seen signage on the property.
Can gym graphics be put up over the summer and be ready for the first day?
Yes, and summer is the right window — the building is empty and the temperature is on your side. The thing that moves the date is paint. If a wall is being repainted first, build three to four weeks of cure time into the schedule before the graphics go on.
How far is Macedonia from you?
About fifteen minutes. On-site measurement across Northeast Ohio is free, and for a scoreboard frame it is worth the visit.
