Sign Company in Boardman, Ohio | Glass, Wall & Facility Graphics
Boardman sits at the eastern edge of the region, which means almost everyone who quotes a graphics job here is driving in to do it. That one fact decides how the work has to be planned: the second trip is the expensive part, so the job is specified to be done in one.
DG Creativ designs, produces and installs architectural glass film, wall graphics, interior and exterior signage, banners and vehicle graphics for healthcare, corporate, school and municipal buildings in Boardman and across the Mahoning Valley. We are based in Stow, roughly an hour west. There is no walk-in showroom — we come to the site, measure the actual surface, and install the work ourselves.
Why the one-trip rule changes what gets asked up front
On a job twenty minutes away, a wrong assumption costs an afternoon. An hour out, it costs a day, and on a wide-format graphic it can cost the material as well, because the fix is usually a reprint rather than an adjustment.
So the questions come earlier and they are more specific than they would otherwise be. What the substrate actually is, not what it looks like in a photograph. Every dimension, including the ones nobody thinks to give — mullion positions, door swings, the height of the lowest obstruction. Whether the space stays in use. Whether it has to come off cleanly later. The on-site measurement visit is free, and that is exactly why we want as much of this as possible beforehand: so the one visit does the measuring, the surface check and the access walk at the same time.
It is a less comfortable conversation than a quick quote over the phone. It is also the reason a Boardman install finishes on the day it was scheduled.
Work we have done in Boardman: a thirty-foot interior glass wall

A continuous graphic across a thirty-foot interior glass wall at the Akron Children's Boardman location. Printed in panels, aligned on site so the image reads as one piece.
Glass partitions solve one problem and create another. They open a building up and let daylight through the middle of it, and then every room behind them is on display. Printed architectural film keeps the light and takes back the privacy for a fraction of the cost of replacing the glass.
The difficulty on that job was the length of the run. Printable material comes off the roll at a fixed width, so any graphic wider than that is printed in panels and joined on site, and the join is where the work is won or lost:
- The color has to match across panels. That means the whole run is printed in one pass rather than a panel being reprinted later. A single panel run again on a different day will not match its neighbors, and on a thirty-foot wall the eye catches it immediately.
- The seams have to land where they are least visible. Seam positions are planned against the artwork and against the mullions, not left to fall wherever the roll happens to run out.
- The panels have to hang plumb on a wall that is rarely as square as the drawing says it is. This is the part that gets found on site, and it is the reason the measurement visit is not a formality.
- The building stayed in use. Interior glass film is low-odor and low-dust, which is what makes it workable around a live clinical schedule. It changes the sequence and the timeline, not the price.
Done properly, someone walking past sees an image. Done badly, they see the joins.

Glass: the three specifications worth knowing apart
Frosted and etched privacy film is unprinted or lightly printed and does one job — it obscures the view while passing light. It looks like sandblasted glass, and unlike sandblasted glass it comes off.
Printed architectural film carries a full-color image or pattern, so you get the privacy plus a graphic: branding, wayfinding, a mural, a pattern that belongs to the building.
Manifestation bands are the narrow strips at eye height on full-height glazing, there so nobody walks into the glass. On many commercial projects they are not optional. They can be plain or they can carry your branding, and there is no good reason for them to be plain.
One more decision sits underneath all three. Inside face or outside face. Applied inside, the film is protected from weather, cleaning equipment and damage, and it lasts far longer; the graphic is printed reversed and read through the glass, which softens it slightly. Applied outside, the color is true and the image is crisp, and it is taking Ohio winters — three to five years with a laminate is a realistic expectation. Where the building allows it, inside is almost always the better call.

Three things to settle before a Boardman job is quoted
- What the substrate actually is. Glass, painted block, brick, sealed drywall, powder-coated metal, gelcoat and terrazzo all take different films and different adhesives. A quote given without knowing which one is a guess. A photograph of the surface is enough to start.
- The access window, not just the deadline. Two hours after close, a full day in a closed building and a week before a suite opens are three different jobs. Adhesive films have a minimum application temperature, roughly 60 to 90°F at the surface, and the surface has to be genuinely dry rather than toweled off. A short cold window takes otherwise correct materials off the list before anyone has drawn anything.
- How long it has to stay up. High tack and clean removal pull against each other, and which one wins is decided before the material is ordered rather than on the morning of the removal. A leased suite is a different specification from an owned building.
How a job runs
- Measure. We drive out and measure the actual glass, wall, floor, fence or vehicle, and check the surface and the route in on the same visit. On-site measurement across Northeast Ohio is free.
- Proof. You approve artwork at size, with the substrate, the laminate and the finish named in writing on the proof.
- Schedule around the building. Clinical hours, office hours, school schedules, season dates. Tell us how the space is used and the install is planned around it.
- Install. Done by us, not handed to you in a tube.
Common questions
Do you have a sign shop in Boardman I can walk into?
No. DG Creativ is based in Stow, Ohio, and the work happens on site across Boardman and the Mahoning Valley. We come to you to measure and to install, and quotes and proofs run by phone and email.
Is there a travel charge for coming out to Boardman?
On-site measurement across Northeast Ohio is free. What we ask for in return is enough detail beforehand — photographs, dimensions, how the space is used — that the visit can cover everything in one trip.
Does printed window film block the daylight?
Frosted and decorative films pass most of the available light while obscuring the view. Only a full-coverage opaque graphic blocks it, which is occasionally what a client wants and usually is not. We will say so before you commit.
Can glass film be installed while the building is occupied?
Yes. Interior glass film is low-odor and low-dust, and it is routinely scheduled around clinical, school and office hours.
How are graphics wider than the printable roll handled?
They are printed as panels in a single pass so the color matches across the whole run, then aligned on site. Seam positions are planned against the artwork and the window mullions so the finished graphic reads as one continuous image.
Can film be removed later without damaging the glass?
Yes. Glass is the easiest surface there is to take film off cleanly.
